Privacy Policy
Bitty is a desktop app that gives you short brain games while your AI tools are working. This policy explains what Ayush Shankar (“we”, “us”) collect, why, and your choices. Short version: Bitty never looks at your work, and an account is optional.
What Bitty never accesses
Your code, files, terminal, clipboard, browser history, screen, keystrokes outside Bitty, or AI conversations. Bitty has no feature that reads any of these.
Without an account (the default)
Your game results, XP, streaks, settings and the wait times you choose are stored only on your computer. We don’t receive them (apart from the anonymous usage statistics described below, and only if you opt in).
If you sign in with Google
Signing in is optional and is needed for syncing progress between computers and for Premium. When you sign in we receive your name and email address from Google (we don’t store your profile photo). We store:
- Your game progress: finished challenges (scores, answers right/wrong, timings), XP, streaks, achievements and quest claims.
- Your equipped buddy and colour theme.
- The computers you use Bitty on: a one-way hash of each computer’s ID (never the ID itself), its name (such as “Ayush’s MacBook”) and operating system, to apply the 2-computer limit for Premium.
- Your Premium status (plan, expiry, and the payment provider’s subscription reference).
Payments
Purchases are handled by our payment provider, which acts as the merchant of record. They process your card details and billing address under their own privacy policy; we never see your full card number. We receive confirmation of your plan so we can unlock Premium on your account.
Other data the app sends
- Update checks to our website, to find signed app updates (a standard web request; no personal data).
- Prices and app settings (pricing.json and config.json) from our website.
Bitty contains no advertising. We don’t sell your data or share it for advertising.
Crash reports and usage statistics
To fix bugs and understand which parts of Bitty people actually use, we use two services. Neither ever receives anything about your work, your files or the other apps on your computer.
- Crash reports (Sentry). When something breaks, Sentry, run by Functional Software, Inc. and hosted in its EU data region, receives the error message and where in Bitty’s code it happened, the app or website version, and your operating system and browser. We set it up not to store names, emails or IP addresses, and we strip web addresses down so sign-in or receipt codes are never included.
- Usage statistics (PostHog). PostHog, hosted in its EU Cloud, receives an anonymous random id for your install or website visit, named events such as “game played” or “download button clicked”, the app version and your operating system. It never receives your name, email or account id, IP addresses are discarded, and it never receives anything about your work or other apps.
In the app: crash reports are on by default and you can turn them off in You → Data & privacy. Usage statistics are only sent if you opt in there.
On this website: statistics are anonymous and cookieless. We don’t use cookies or local storage for them, the random id lasts only until you leave the page, and nothing is sent if your browser has Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control switched on. Website crash reports contain the same kind of technical information as the app’s, and never include cookies or sign-in or receipt codes.
Where data is stored
Account data is stored with Supabase (our database provider); encrypted nightly backups of it are kept for 30 days in a private Cloudflare storage bucket; our website and downloads are served by Cloudflare. Crash reports are processed by Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., EU data region) and usage statistics by PostHog (EU Cloud). Payments are handled by Dodo Payments. These providers process data on our behalf and may store it outside your country.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account exists. Delete account in Bitty (You → Account) permanently deletes your account and synced data from our live database immediately. Encrypted nightly backups (kept for disaster recovery only) roll off within 30 days, so after that no copy remains. Reset progress wipes your progress on every computer. Records we must keep for tax or legal reasons (held by the payment provider) are kept as the law requires.
Your rights
You can access, export (Premium: You → Export your data), correct or delete your data at any time, or ask us to do it for you. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, India or California) you may have further rights; contact us and we’ll respond within 30 days.
Children
Bitty is meant for people aged 13 and over. If you believe a child under 13 created an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
