Brain games for programmers.
Short puzzles that fit between builds, test runs and AI replies: predict the output, solve a tiny logic problem, do some mental math. Then get back to work.
What makes a good break game for developers
A coding day is full of small gaps: a build, a test suite, an AI agent working on your last prompt. A good game for those gaps is:
- Short: playable in 5 seconds to 5 minutes, so it fits the gap instead of stretching it.
- Finished when it ends: no feed, no cliffhanger, nothing to think about afterwards.
- Quick to open and close: one key to start, one key to leave.
- Actually interesting: puzzles that feel like the fun parts of programming, not chores.
A taste: what does this print?
xs = [1, 7, 9, 6, 2, 4]
print(xs[1:3])The answer is [7, 9]: a slice includes its start index and stops before its end. Bitty’s Code Prediction machine is full of questions like this in JavaScript and Python, from slices and loops to type coercion gotchas.
The six games in Bitty
- Code Prediction: read a few lines of JavaScript or Python and pick what they print. The curated questions are checked by actually running the code.
- Logic: orderings, compass turns, true/false expressions, time zones and build-time puzzles.
- Pattern: number sequences, symbol cycles, rotating arrows and odd one out.
- Mental Math: quick sums, times tables, percentages and estimates, typed straight in.
- Memory: digit spans, grid sequences and colour recall.
- Reaction: wait for GO, then hit it. Good for a 5-second gap.
Each game keeps its own difficulty that follows how you play, so it stays a challenge without turning into homework. There’s a Daily Challenge, and Premium adds 5-minute Boss Fights. See every game with real example puzzles, or play a 15-second round in your browser.
Made for the waits in an AI-assisted day
Bitty lives on your desktop as a tiny pixel buddy. When your AI tool or build starts, open it and pick a round that fits the wait.
- Start your AI as usual.
- Open Bitty: click the little buddy on your desktop, or press Option+Shift+B on a Mac (Alt+Shift+B on Windows and Linux).
- Pick the wait: a 5-second Blitz, 15, 30 or 60 seconds, or a 5-minute Boss Fight.
- Press Esc when your AI is done. You’re straight back at your work.
It’s a game, not a cognitive-training program: no claims about IQ or productivity. It has no AI inside, never reads your code, and works offline.
