FOR EVERYONE

What to do while ChatGPT thinks.

You ask a question, and ChatGPT starts thinking. Or an image is drawing, or a long answer is still writing itself. A few seconds here, a few minutes there. Here’s how to spend them without losing the next twenty minutes to a feed.

Why AI keeps you waiting

The answers that take longest are usually the ones worth having. When ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini “thinks” before replying, it’s working through the problem step by step, and that can take from a few seconds to a minute or more. A deep research report reads many sources and can take several minutes. Pictures and video take their time too, and so does a long document or a big spreadsheet.

Ask a few times an hour and your day fills up with small gaps: too short to start anything real, too long to stare at the screen.

Why the feed is the wrong fit

The easy thing is to pick up your phone. But feeds are built to have no natural end. You open one “for a second” and look up when it has decided you’re done, not when the answer is ready. And you come back with your head full of other things, half-remembering what you asked.

A good break for a short wait is small, has a clear end, and leaves nothing behind to think about afterwards.

A game that fits the wait

Bitty is a tiny pixel chick that lives in the corner of your screen with a little arcade inside. When you’re waiting, click it and play a round sized to the wait, from 5 seconds to 5 minutes. Press Esc and it’s gone.

  1. Start your AI as usual.
  2. Open Bitty: click the little buddy on your desktop, or press Option+Shift+B on a Mac (Alt+Shift+B on Windows and Linux).
  3. Pick the wait: a 5-second Blitz, 15, 30 or 60 seconds, or a 5-minute Boss Fight.
  4. Press Esc when your AI is done. You’re straight back at your work.

When you first open Bitty it asks what you use AI for. Choose Everyday and you get six games that need nothing but a moment of focus:

  • Mental Math: quick sums and percentages you type straight in.
  • Memory: a few digits, a lit-up grid or some colours flash by; then put them back.
  • Pattern: what comes next in a sequence, or which one doesn’t belong.
  • Logic: tiny puzzles: who’s tallest, what day it’ll be, which way you’re facing.
  • Estimate: four answers to a rough sum or a “how many minutes in…”; pick the closest, no exact maths.
  • Reaction: wait for GO, then hit it. Good for a 5-second gap.

Each game starts easy and follows how you play, so it stays fun without turning into homework. See every game with real example puzzles, or play a 15-second round in your browser.

Ranks named for thinking

Play and you level up, with a new rank every few levels: Curious → Sharp → Quick Thinker → Puzzler → Strategist → Mastermind → Genius → Sage → Legend, and Legend tiers beyond that. (People who code can pick Dev instead, which adds a coding game and ranks from Intern to Fellow.) Switch any time in the app’s You tab; your progress stays.

Other good things to do while AI works

A game isn’t always the best use of the gap. A few things that also end cleanly:

  • Stand up and stretch. Roll your shoulders and look at something far away for a moment.
  • Write your next question. Note what you’ll ask next, or what you want to check in the answer.
  • Get some water. A long research report is the perfect excuse.
  • Clear one small thing. Reply to one message, close a few tabs, file one email. Small and finished.

Bitty is for the gaps where none of those fit, or when you just want a bit of fun.

It never looks at your chats

Bitty has no AI inside and doesn’t connect to ChatGPT or any other AI. It never reads your conversations, files, clipboard, browser history or screen, and it doesn’t try to guess when an answer is ready: you open it, you close it. You don’t need an account, and the games work offline. The details are in the privacy policy.
